10,000 Photos

2023 12 31 - The Magnolia. Sony A7R3

I reached an important milestone - I have 10,000 photos in my library. Even if only a subset of these photos make it into my artistic portfolio, the fact that I’ve reached this milestone reaffirms that I am a photographer.

2024 will be about experimentation, learning, getting out of my comfort zone, and pushing myself to achieve what I know is possible.

Here are my aspirations -

  1. I will delve into all genres of photography to determine which aspects bring me the most joy and the most reward - portraits, events, and pets

  2. I will see my photos displayed all over the world

  3. I will collaborate with brands & companies to provide the imagery the need

In short - 2024 will be the ‘dial it up’ year, and I hope you join me for the ride.

Until next time -

Tomorrow is Jan 1 2024; I type this sentence in disbelief.

This story is a 2023 recap, a celebration of 10,000 photos, and look forward to 2024.

Part of life’s journey is to determine our individual design and our purpose in this world. I’m proud to say that I’ve answered both questions in 2023.

About 10 years ago, I distanced myself from photography. I thought I needed to be in a serene, stress-free headspace to properly partake. I vowed to pick up my camera when I had more free time and when my mind was clear. In the course of a cross-country move in 2018, I lost almost all of my camera gear - I truly thought I’d never find the headspace I needed to fall back in love with photography.

In 2023, with the help of my family and friends, I realized that photography is actually the key to clearing my mind - that it is the solution, not just a reward.

In fact, I’m designed to have a camera in my hand. Photography brings me joy and purpose, and I’m so grateful to have dialed into who I actually am.
